The Charter was issued by authority of the Executive Board of the Service Employees International Union and granted to the Civil Service Forum and their successor's power to be a Local Union of this International located in New York City, NY and be known and designated as CIVIL SERVICE FORUM, LOCAL 300.

Today Civil Service Forum, Local 300 remains the forerunner of all public-employee organizations. Many of the benefits enjoyed by the present City employees are a direct result of successful efforts by The Local through the diligence of its dedicated leaders and membership through the years. The Civil Service Forum, the certified union representative for numerous City occupational groups, continues to pursue an active course of action, with the betterment of the Civil Servant always the goal.
